About the Series
1 in 4 people are living with a mental health condition. Yet more than half of employees with depression or another mental health condition believe their job would be at risk if they opened up to their employer for mental health support. This is a problem considering we spend over 50% of our waking hours – that’s one-third of our lives – at work.
At the same time, unaddressed mental health issues cost employers tens of billions of dollars per year in lost productivity and employee turnover. While employees suffer in silence, company profitability is suffering right along with them.
Helping companies improve their productivity cannot be done unless those companies help their workers. And helping workers become more productive starts with paying attention to their mental wellbeing and ability to perform. This is much easier said than done, though – so this series provides actionable ways for company leaders and managers to navigate those complex workplace conversations about mental health.
This series gives company leaders the tools to take care of their employees, and in turn, set their business up for success. Workplace issues are among the core problems leading psychologist Dr. Ramani Durvasula treats in her private practice. In this highly informative series, she simplifies the complex conundrum of workplace culture and mental health, and educates employers and employees alike on actionable solutions.
It is inevitable that our personal lives bleed into our work lives, and vice versa. This series bridges the educational gap on mental health in the workplace. In doing so, it bridges the disconnect between employers and employees, between our personal lives and our feeling of fulfillment at work, and between needless suffering and happy, healthy productivity.

“People at work are the ones who see you day in and day out. So they will notice a change. And when [a manager] takes notice, the most humane thing that manager can do is care for that employee. People desperately want to be seen and heard and understood. And sometimes all it takes is that one kind voice that reaches in and asks if you’re okay.”
