About the Series

The expression “hit rock bottom” has become popularized when it comes to addiction recovery. Letting a loved one hit this proverbial point is now embedded in many families’ approach to recovery.

For some addicts, tough love can be a motivator to get sober. But for most, this approach is disheartening and leads to many otherwise-preventable relapses, and in the worst cases, preventable deaths.

According to certified ICF life coach Andrea Arlington, the greatest tool we have to inspire change in anyone’s life is the quality of the connection we have with them. This is the basis of her groundbreaking approach to support in recovery. She replaces “shame and blame” with an innovative way to leverage the power of love and connection.

In this comprehensive sit-down session between Andrea, psychiatrist Dr. Domenick Sportelli, and our host Kyle, you’ll learn Andrea’s key strategies for empowering a family member or loved one to reach long-lasting, sustainable recovery. Even if you’ve tried the “tough love” approach and it hasn’t worked, you’ll learn how to repair your relationship with your loved one, nurture that relationship going forward, and set the stage for a hope-filled future.

Who is this series for?

This series is for family members and loved ones of those suffering from a substance use disorder.

This series is especially helpful for parents who need actionable strategies to support a child struggling from addiction, or a child who is new to recovery.

“If your kid had cancer, or diabetes, would you go to a room with a bunch of laymen in it and ask them what to do? No! We’re looking at life or death in all of this. You’ve got to talk to somebody who’s trained in helping you be [your loved one’s] best chance for recovery.”
Andrea Arlington, Certified ICF Life Coach & Addiction Specialist

“This structure is so incredibly important because when you’re emotionally charged, you can’t think logically. This structure will help you reel it [the emotion] back and think logically.”
