About the Series
What It’s Like to Live with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)
Dissociative identity disorder (DID) is highly sensationalized in TV shows and movies, so most people don’t have a realistic understanding of what living with multiple personalities is actually like. In this series, you’ll meet Encina Severa, a real-life patient living with DID. After suffering unimaginable abuse as a young child, Encina began experiencing episodes of amnesia. It was later determined that these were episodes during which a personality, or “alter,” was taking over her body.
In this eye-opening Spotlight Series, Encina shares her lived experience of what it’s like to live with 11 different personalities. You’ll even meet Minnie – Encina’s 3-year-old primary alter.
