About the Series

We first sat down with Encina in 2018 to discuss what it’s like to live with 11 personalities and dissociative identity disorder (DID). However, we didn’t get the full picture. In this series, we flesh out Encina’s full mental health journey, which includes dealing with major depressive disorder with mixed features, complex PTSD, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

Encina also details how life has been since we last sat down with her, what it was like growing up and coping with these mental health disorders, and her treatment path.

Who is this series for?

This is for anyone who wants to hear the struggles of a variety of mental health issues from someone who has experienced them. If you are already familiar with Encina or curious to hear someone’s personal mental health journey, this is the series for you.

“Hearing someone else say ‘I want to want to live’ hit me so hard. I've said that in the past and no one could understand what I meant. Hearing someone else say it in the same context brought me to tears, thank you.”
